CONGRATULATIONS to the 2016  batch of graduates under the UE-Tan Yan Kee Foundation
    Scholarship Program.

I am happy that you have finally completed the rigorous programs of  your respective courses while following the equally rigid and disciplined lifestyle of a scholar.  I know the hard work and sacrifices that you have endured for many years to maintain your scholarship.
While it is time to celebrate a milestone in your young life, this is also a time to reflect , to count your blessings and to plan your future. Will you continue your studies or find work? Will you be an entrepreneur or be part of a joint business venture?
In whatever you decide to be or to do in the next few years, just be guided by the highest standards of  excellence. I hope that as a UE-Tan Yan Kee Foundation Inc. scholars, you will also remain grounded and  live by the old basic principles of honesty and integrity.  Always do your work with passion, humility and kindness towards your fellowmen.
Most important of all, when you have reached your goals, remember to thank the Lord and share your blessings, especially with those who have less in life.
        Again, congratulations.

    testimonials

A boy dreaming of something to make his family’s life better – that’s who I was five years ago.  Growing up from a less privileged community did not only offer financial and academic challenges, but  also helped me realize the value of a college education.
I owe a lot of gratitude to the UE-Tan Yan Kee Foundation Inc for helping me pursue my dream of becoming a degree holder of a course that I want in a stimulating and competitive institution.
I hope that one day I would be able to give back and share all the support, kindness and love. In behalf of my parents, thank you very much!

    UE – Caloocan

Thank you to everyone who genuinely helped me overcome various hardships as a young student whose parents could hardly send their children to school with earnings from a small carinderia.
I wish to thank the Sisters of Mary School who adopted me as a live-in high school scholar and eventually endorsed me to the Foundation of  Dr. Lucio C. Tan to become a UE-TYKFI scholar. College at UE was most memorable as it helped me become independent, decisive, and sociable.
I am now a proud graduate of BS Accounting Technology  and I thank the University and the Foundation for  harnessing not just my knowledge but also my personality and my family who has always supported and inspired me. Most of all, I thank God from whom all blessings and grace emanate.

    UE- Manila

I went to public schools during my elementary and secondary education. The real struggle kicked in when I was about to enter college because my father just passed away and my mother only did laundry to feed us.
Until one day, UE – Manila went to our school and invited us to take the the UE – TYKFI. Scholarship exam. My best friend and I went to UE to take the exam but I did not have the P300  fee to take it.  I was really shocked because my best friend did not take the exam so that I could take it. I was in the brink of tears and I told her, “You don’t have to do this.” But she replied, “Mas kailangan mo ito! Galingan mo!”
Today, as I am reminiscing the events in my life, I couldn’t stop myself from thanking the well-respected business tycoon, Dr. Lucio Tan. I am successful today because I have someone who believed in me and I don’t want to let him down. Dr. Tan, thank you for believing in me. May God bless you more.

      UE-TYKFI Scholarship Program

The Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Inc. and the University of the East established the UE-TYKFI scholarship program in 1998 to provide free quality education to deserving UE undergraduate students and faculty members. Close to 1,000 students, including 12 faculty members and 60 grantees, have benefited from the program.

For the past 13 school years, TYKFI has spent no less than PhP68.1 million for the program, covering book allowance, uniform subsidy, transportation allowance and monthly stipend. On the other hand, UE has spent PhP98.7 million for tuition and other school fees. The scholarship is renewable every semester provided that the scholar meets the grade requirement and finishes his/her course within the prescribed period.

The scholarship program for regular faculty members covers a book allowance and monthly stipends (including study leave pay, tuition and other school fees) for two consecutive years for a master’s degree or four years for a doctorate degree. Both degrees may be pursued at the UE Graduate School, or in another university if the field of specialization is not offered in UE.

The undergraduate scholarships are in selected fields considered relevant to the needs of the Philippines for high-level manpower, namely Engineering and Computer Science/Information Technology, Mathematics and the Sciences, Accountancy and Dentistry, English and Communication Arts.

To qualify for a student scholarship, applicants must meet a set of criteria. For further details, please call 735- 5471 local 398, 399 or 735-8577 (UE Manila), 367-4787 or 367-4572 (UE Caloocan) or 816-5520 and -22 (TYKFI).
