He described his one-year fellowship as an enriching experience, which gave him the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and equipment in the medical field. He also had the chance to interact with other medical practitioners from different parts of the world to share knowledge and experience.
Dr. Co noted the differences in medical care provided to Australians and to Filipinos.
Australians rely mainly on equipment and laboratory tests for diagnosis, while Filipino doctors resort to questions to patients regarding physical symptoms and health history to determine an illness.
Preferring to practice in the Philippines, Dr. Co is eager to apply his newly-acquired skills to help his countrymen.
He also looks for ways to do charity work as a way of sharing his blessings. He said that should opportunities arise in the future, he is open to pursuing further training to continually keep up to date and relevant in the medical practice.
