Tan Yan Kee foundation Chairman and president Dr. Lucio C. Tan provided support to the International Peace Foundation’s Bridges--a program of dialogues towards a culture of peace.

In a letter of appreciation to Dr. Tan, International Peace Foundation Chairman Uwe Morawetz expressed his gratitude for Dr. Tan’s “ important participation in the program and for helping … to make the visit of President Jose Ramos-Horta to the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand a major success”.
The event is a part of a series of dialogues towards a culture of peace, without taking sides but creating an independent platform for dialogue and humanitarian support.  The effort has gathered leading personalities from international politics, economy, science, culture, religion and media as well as youth and a general audience to jointly develop concrete action drafts and recommendations for governments, the European Commission and the United Nations on issues such as education, unemployment, intercultural dialogue, information society and globalization.

Nobel Laureates Robert Mundell, David J. Gross, Finn Kydland, David Baltimore, Aaron Ciechanover, and Jose Ramos-Horta were the most recent participants of Bridges.  Others before them included Oscar Arias, Leon Cooper, Henry Kissinger, John Nash, the Dalai Lama.

The next series of Bridges will be from November 2009 to April 2010 and will be held in Cambodia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
