The Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Inc. (TYKFI), in partnership with Ang•Hortaleza Foundation, Inc. conducted  the second part of  the Ganda Mo, Hanapbuhay Ko livelihood training program for a group of trainees from Nueva Vizcaya at the Ang Hortaleza Training Center in Valenzuela City from May 18 to May 29, 2015.

Ang•Hortaleza Foundation trainors gave lectures and  beauty enhancement lessons to the participants  in   Basic Facial Cleaning,  Basic Hair Relaxing and  Salon Management.  Part of their requirements to graduate was the actual demonstration of their new skills through the use of models as customers.

Last November 17 to 21, 2014,  these participants already  finished two courses under Part One of the program:   Basic Cosmetology,  Basic Reflexology and Therapeutic Massage.  The graduates of these courses were issued  certificates of completion and starter kits as an incentive for them to become self-reliant through home service, eventually becoming entrepreneurs.

In the Basic Facial Cleaning Course, the participants learned basic techniques in facial massage and cleaning that include removal of whiteheads and blackheads. As facial technicians, they received a four-day training on hands-on application with four clients each.

In the Basic Hair Relaxing, the participants  learned the proper techniques on hair relaxing, straightening, and analyzing hair textures (strand testing), types and conditions. They worked on two clients each.

The Basic Facial Make-up is an additional course that could be another venue for livelihood. It was a one-day-one client training on how to do make-up that would best fit the face.

In the Salon management subject, the participants learned  the basic information, technique, strategies, and requirements on how to manage a parlor/salon. Basic bookkeeping and handling manpower were also included in the course.

The trainees have since participated in an out-reach activity called “Libreng Gupit” where they gave free haircut  as a sign of reciprocity for the free training. The  project aimed to help housewives from Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya who have income –generating potential in cosmetology to earn a livelihood.  This will enable them to make a living through home services or work in salons.

Here are some of their messages of gratitude for the training:

    Nerissa G. Lazaro
    Villa Flores, Sta. Fe,
    Nueva Vizcaya

Salamat sa TYKFI which is one of the best  foundations here in Asia.

    Gina Geneta Abat
Centro Tactac, Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya

Sila Ma’am Valerie, Sir Jay, Sir Raymond. Naway pagpalain din po kayo ng Diyos. God Bless you more.

    Zenaida B. Enamil
    Baliling, Sta. Fe, Nueva VIzcaya
