The Tan Yan Kee Elementary School (TYKES) in Brgy. Balete, Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya prepares for opening of classes and the rainy season with the construction of Slope Protection Phase 2 to protect the school from soil erosion. Shown in photo are TYKES principal, teachers, pupils, and residents providing sweat equity with technical guidance from the Municipal Engineer and resources from Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Inc. TYKES has four classrooms donated by TYKFI and three from the Provincial Government. Meanwhile, TYKFI also donated 300 copies of English textbooks for TYKES Grades 1 to 6. This textbook was localized by DepEd Nueva Vizcaya Division for use of pupils and teachers in the province.
Tan Yan Kee Foundation also provided 3 ceiling fans and a stand fan for four classrooms. The Foundation also repainted the hallway ceiling. With the shared vision of providing quality education to the children on this mountaintop Barangay, the continuing improvement of both teaching standards and physical resources is a common task of all sectors involved. It does take a village. |
