The Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Inc. (TYKFI) has announced that families of four more scholars of the TYKFI-STA Scholarship Project have already moved to their brand new houses donated by Eton (Philippines), the real estate company of the Lucio Tan conglomerate. The beneficiary scholars are Michael Lozano, Princess Corpuz, Marjorie Tulian and Ana Leslie Rosendo.
Philip Sing, General Manager of TYKFI, said that the Foundation scholars are Grades 10-12 students who belong to poor farming families from Nueva Vizcaya who used to live in dilapidated structures. Mr. Sing said that the students have to be children of farmers of meager means who have passed a rigorous screening process and maintain high scholastic ratings.
The first batch of four scholars received the same benefit for their families from Eton (Philippines) in 2019 through the same partnership agreement with the TYKFI which handled the selection of the beneficiaries and monitored the construction and turnover of the houses.
The beneficiaries of the new houses were carefully selected from more than 100 Foundation scholars from Grades 7 to 12 who are currently enrolled in the private school St. Teresita’s Academy. Aside from free tuition fees, they also enjoy free uniforms, shoes, assorted school supplies, occasional field trips, seasonal food packs and other benefits.
